Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology is the only tertiary institution in the country that works in partnership with the Department of Conservation to deliver the Trainee Ranger Certificate.

Field courses are for anyone that works or wants to work or volunteer in conservation. This includes volunteers or members of community groups, trusts, funding recipients, regional council and territorial authority staff.

A comprehensive one day course on first aid for birds run by Massey University Wildlife Vets developed in consultation with DOC.

This course is very useful for anybody who works with, or may encounter birds during their work.

It provides the basic skills to safely deal with a sick or injured bird, to make a field assessment, and stabilise the bird for further treatment if required.

Learn basic techniques such as bandaging and crop feeding.

Youth Development Programme, A Development Programme for Young People, Department of Conservation, Dunedin, four intakes per year.
